And Now There are Six!
[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]It is with great rejoicing that we welcome Jaylen Jaden Pop into the world. He is a true gift from God considering Alicia’s difficult pregnancy filled with much pain and worry. According to Lazarus, the name has biblical meaning. It’s Hebrew meaning is ‘thankful’ or ‘judge’. He assisted Nehemiah in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem after Judah’s return from Babylonian exile. This is powerfully prophetic for this precious Mayan baby who is the first born into the In His Footprints family. Alicia, Jayden and the whole family are doing very well thanks to many prayers being answered. So now there are six Pops: Lazarus and Alicia and their four children Jason, Julie, Duvon, and Jayden.

The ‘BAT’ Men of Belize
[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]
On Friday, January 20, 2017, IHF took a historic step forward in fulfilling its mandate of a ministry run by Belizeans for Belizeans. Let us introduce the Belize Advisory Team (BAT): Marin Rosado (Vice Principal of the Armenia grade school), Calvin Aviilez (Principal of the Global International Trades School), Augustine Garcia (Armenia Tour Guide Operator) and Lazarus Pop (IHF ministry leader). Also joining us as a special guest was Grant Donovan (US Peace Corp) who is serving in Armenia for the next three years. What was so special in forming this team was that they all jumped on board immediately when Lazarus approached them. This shows the high level of respect and confidence that they have in him in overseeing IHF. Obviously, God has gathered together very capable Christian men who now face the challenge of developing and implementing effective job skills and outreach programs that works within Belizean society.

Bread, Honey, and Water
[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]
The end of March heading into April will be a very busy stretch for IHF. Even though the skills sharing programs are ongoing, two Canadian ministries will be staying on the Loforna base while working within the village. The first group is an advance team from the Water Ambassadors. Their specialty is water purification and hygiene. Their time will include meetings with the village leadership addressing community water issues, offering teaching sessions on proper hygiene and low tech water filtration systems, and adding value to our Environmental Stewardship program by training our students in using these systems to purify rainwater for the poor, sick and aged. To find out more about WA, check out their website at www.waterambassadorscanada.org. Following them is the third team from Youth Unlimited/Emmanuel Christian School (Montreal). God has used them to implement our Bread and Honey Outreach (poor, sick and needy), establish a precious relationship with Marla’s House of Hope, (refuge for abandoned/abused girls) and host our first Loforna youth retreat. The importance of all of this is our inclusion of other ministries to freely come and bless us and the village with their particular expertise. Each is called by God to make relational improvements with all those surrounding us to the glory of His name.

Here We Grow Again
[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]
Through the inspiration of Marin Rosado (BAT), IHF is starting a new skill sharing program. His desire is to see young people learn how to produce high-quality vegetables improving the meals provided by the school. Seeing students planting seeds, recording growth, and yielding bountiful harvests is near and dear to his heart. With the help of Grant Donovan (Peace Corp), we built an experimental greenhouse on the base to see if this could work. Duvon Pop, who sadly informed me that I had mowed down his baby onion plant growing next to the building, will include some of his classmates to give it a go. Why a greenhouse in a hot country? For two reasons: protection from infestation and controlled water management. So, Duvon and his classmates wish to present to you Market Gardening 101.
